“And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.””
Mark 16:5-7 ESV
Today in the Church meeting I reflected on 2 angels present at the Tomb when Jesus rose again. The angels were there to specifically send a message to His Disciples to leave the Upper Room of disillusionment, of fear and meet with Him in Galilee. The angels proved to the women that the stone had been taken care of and Jesus was not in the Tomb. Proof was given.
We need to see that in Mark the angels were to prove and announce the meeting place with His Disciples. It seems in Luke that Jesus had appeared to them all in the Upper Room that day. There seems to be a different angle on the appearances of angels and Jesus to the disciples.
The astonishment of them all may account for different remembrances of that day.
The angels appeared in the morning and the Roman soldiers fell faint at the sight of two shining angels and it is to surmise that the angels took away the stone. They prepared the way for Jesus to arise and walk out from death.
In the first Passover it was the Angel of the Lord in the fire and the cloud. The Angel was present as they were about to take Jericho. Angels are present when God is fulfilling His Covenant.
In this day that we remember Jesus rising from the dead, with 2 angels, two angels were present also 40 days later, as Jesus is rising to heaven. With us, in this series, already establishing the fact that another Passover is coming. This means that once again angelic ministration will accompany great occurrences of God. It is time we ask God to open our eyes and ears to angelic apparitions and what they declare.
The Book of Revelation is full of angels carrying the prayers of the saints , carrying the judgments of God. Also declaring the victories of God, exaltation of the Lamb, the revealing of the Lion of the Tribe of Judah.
We need to be more conscious of their role in every great event of God. The Church in the end days will be guided through them by angels so that they stand in the evil day!
Just as the angels took away the stone of His Tomb, making way for His appearance so the “stones” that stand in His way shall be taken away by the angels. May we welcome their ministry on our behalf!
