Today is Christmas Day. A day in which we remember the birth of the Saviour. I was meditating on the words of the joyful angels and I sought God to a deeper meaning to these words.

Peace on Earth

Is there peace on earth? In general terms no. We have however a phased transition to peace on earth. This transition starts with Psalm 110, where God the Father invites the Son to sit at His Right Hand, until His enemies are made into His Footstool. This starts with the completed work of Calvary, applied by all of us, where we are redeemed and regenerated. This is further reinforced when we receive the Holy Spirit like the apostles so that through the Church the enemies of Christ become His Footstool.

As Jesus is also the Prince of Peace, true peace comes when and where Jesus reigns. Psalm 2 explains the way Jesus will rule. God the Father sets His Son as King on His Holy Hill. Ruling with a rod of iron, breaking the rulers who are conspiring against God and against His Anointed. The nations are His inheritance by oath. When these nations become Kingdoms so true peace can come.

And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

Peace cannot come until He reigns! It is this programme that God has for us in the context of eternity. So once we create a space in our hearts and in our homes, where He reigns there will be increasing transitions of peace as we adjust our obedience.

Good will toward men

I just wonder if we apply this horizontally, between peoples. It seems to me that this Good Will is originating from God first. This Good will is God making available His Grace to all men through repentance and confession of Christ’s Lordship in one’s life. Then as we become the Family and Household of God this Good Will can flow horizontally. The Coming of Christ and Lord in history and each spiritual generation since 2000 years ago, is the beginning of this process.

The Angel’s Declaration In form of Prophecy

So this declaration 📜 is prophetic for every generation and is a pattern for us to understand its importance and its significance! May we welcome the Saviour, the King into our midst and understand that without HIS rule there can be no peace in our hearts, our homes, and our nations. May we submit to this prophecy so that Jesus, reigning, we can have free access to His Good will.
