The running theme in Scripture is that God finds a habitation with men. Right from the Children of Israel who came out of Egypt God made a Tabernacle for Moses with a permanent priesthood. The meaning of “Levi” father of the priesthood means “joined”. God has throughout the Word demonstrated throughout the Word that He desires to bear near us. Everything concerning covenant is a bridge towards this end.
The progression through the Word is from Tabernacle to Temple, then from Temple to the Church.
And from the Temple became the invisible Church…in buildings gathered.
The only reason is for God to be near men.
When Jesus declares and makes all things new so He will be manifest plainly, we shall sense Him and see Him. Anything else we do, that takes away from Him being near is just pure religious dead tradition.
Revival is part way there, but man has a longing to have God near, but God has a greater desire for this. And the road we have discovered in this series is all about bringing about this “tabernacle with men”.
He can do this because beyond walking this road, it passes through processes that take away the obstacles to this reality. Those meant Him giving up His only right to life. Passing through the pain of death, passing the shadow of Hades. So that any obstacle to His nearness to us be taken away.
May we receive this today in whatever situation we find ourselves, when we feel alone, God’s only motive for such a great work of Salvation is so that He can be near and amongst us!
