What Mary Magdalene never considered that the empty tomb was signifying that Jesus was risen. Out of the tomb and living.
I believe we are living in a season of loss. Loss of normal and verifiable certainties. It seems that Churches and ministries are living an “epistrafo” moment. There are two ways God deals with deception and sin. Direct confrontation which is “elenco” or taking the lid off what is hidden. I think we are at the empty tomb where we don’t see the miracle because our sense of loss is far greater than our perception of a miracle and the new season ahead.
In Mary’s mind the empty tomb meant that the Body of the Lord had been moved. It seems the horror of the events at Golgotha and our Lord’s death shattered those close to Him of His Divine identity.
Mary sees Jesus but thinks He is the gardener. The only thing that snaps her out is how He says “Mary” and the unique way He said it. It seems the message is even when our perception seem unfocused we are assured when the Lord calls our name we will perceive the greatest miracle has taken place, He has overcome death. The enormity of His power suddenly is perceived. May His Word break the foggy misperceptions and bring us face to face with who Jesus really is.
Jesus transforms our losses as opportunities for knowing Him more intimately and understanding that our losses do not signify His absence, rather His form has changed and we must perceive that He is the Ressurrected Lord, Glorified Lord afresh. This means we are lifted from a shadowy existence for which there is little perceived purpose to eternal hope.
Maranatha!
