The emptying of the next Generation

The Lord is working very much in this time, but He is giving people warnings to raise. I have been in touch with families that have sons and daughters who right now are struggling with very low self esteem, mental health issues, hopelessness and depression. This destructuring of our next generation is by design, because Satan knows that by derailing the next generation the Gospel cannot be taken to the ends of the earth, and spiritual heritages cannot be passed on, closing off one generation from the other.

“Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes. And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a decree of utter destruction.”

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Mal 4:5–6.

This is what Satan is resisting, this prophetic reconciliation and connection between the generations. The turning of hearts has all to do with embracing the qualities of each generation and passing on a spiritual legacy, reconciliation is a healing for the land, and the land is suffering the fullness of iniquity.

So when we think of this satanic strategy, what is the strategy we need to be praying into?

Pray for the Elijah the Prophet

John the Baptist went in the power and spirit of Elijah, says Luke 1. We need to pray for the raising up of Elijah in our day and generation.

Much is going on in the world that has turned, and the vehicle has been the smartphone revolution. Not that we throw the baby out with the bath water, the smartphone is a remarkable medium, but as with anything invented the potential for satanic infiltration is great. It’s no different here. However there has to be a spiritual turning of hearts….and the spirit of Elijah does just that. It is said that one of the witnesses of Revelation 11 is a Elijah type character. They have power over nature in contrast with the elites who manipulate weather and nature. The Elijah spirit has the ability to back up the Word with signs. These signs will turn the hearts.

Pray for the Outpouring of the Spirit

The Lord Will Pour Out His Spirit

28  “And it shall come to pass afterward,

that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your old men shall dream dreams,

and your young men shall see visions.

29  Even on the male and female servants

in those days I will pour out my Spirit.

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Joe 2:28–29.

We celebrate this event as the birth of the Church, but it is far more than this, we sometimes miss this fact, it was a generational outpouring on two generations, old and new. That is the key.

The speech of young people today contrasts with what Joel is prophesying here, which today lacks hope, lacks horizons. Here what Joel is saying is that the type of “prophesying” is what I saw many years ago concerning the Holy Spirit in God’s people before the Day of Pentecost, and what brought His Presence was their inspired declarations about what God was about to do. What politicians do regularly is promise and inspire, but there is no guarantee that their promises or perspectives will come to pass, but “prophesying” is about opening our mouths using God’s Word to declare what He desires and wills to come to pass.

Young men need to see visions, visions of innovations, projects, initiatives that bring renewal to the earth. Instead of moaning how bad it is, we need to be part of birthing and bringing into being projects that impact our community.

The old men are not excluded, it does not say “And your old men shall retire”, rather they shall have such vivid dreams that unwrap spiritual mysteries into comprehendible insights.

Where the enemy seeks to empty, God seeks to fill.

Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law

This Scripture is from Proverbs 29, and it gives us a warning. Vision and clear teaching on it is key to this problem, and we see people throw off restraint. We have to examine what are the restraints are.

  1. The Holy Spirit on our conscience
  2. The Word of God in our understanding
  3. Sense of right and wrong
  4. Sense of discipline and restraint on uncontrolled passions
  5. Sense of morality.

The Church as a whole has much to learn from this Scripture. We need to grasp what is prophetic vision. It is a understanding of Biblical admonition applicable to our day, bringing historical and spiritual understanding from a deep place of walking with God. That is why Church must innovate on themes that interest young people, and bring a new perspective on it. Old strategies from the 70s and 80s worked then, but now in the age of the smartphone, fast news, Facebook and X, this won’t cut it. Let us pray God will make us into His communicators in this day.

I have tried to convey what I believe is going on today and give some strategy. I hope that this message inspires you to pray into this issue. Yes, I have not finished the Luke 24 series, of our Journey to Emmaus, but this was an issue to address today. Be blessed.
