Psalm 2:1-8 KJV
[1] Why do the heathen rage, And the people imagine a vain thing? [2] The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, Against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, [3] Let us break their bands asunder, And cast away their cords from us. [4] He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: The Lord shall have them in derision. [5] Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, And vex them in his sore displeasure. [6] Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. [7] I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. [8] Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

8 verses yet in them so much insight from David concerning the eternal programme from the Heavenly Throne. There are certain stages cleverly written into the text. They describe how God deals with the ruling classes down the ages.
The Heathen Rage
The heathen represent a people who do not know God nor want to know Him. They represent the reprobate who are controlled by a demonic elite down the centuries. And with their wicked practices send a message; we won’t have you REIGN over us. They set up their false altars and power centres as an affront to the Most High. Their rage is their defiance. It is displayed in their music, their fashion, their politics.
The people imagine a vain thing
Isn’t it ironic that John Lennon wrote the song “Imagine” describing an utopia where God is something to unite and create some kind of paradise. It was in that time that the 60s with all its revolutions and imaginations were rife we find ourselves in 2026 devoid of any purity, only empty vanity. Our imaginations have led us in a direction away and contrary to Jesus and His Kingdom.
The Kings of the earth set themselves
In contrast with verse 6, God sets His King. These kings have set themselves by virtue of their riches and lineage. In setting up themselves they have no relation to Him who God set on His Throne.
Take Counsel together against the Lord
It is obvious that governments and kingdoms increasingly are taking a counsel more aligned with demonic forces and ideologies. This is for their self preservation. Their prolonging in the place of power.
And against His Anointed
Christ is not just the Suffering Servant but Eternal King. And the design of the Most High is to break the power of these kings and governments who set themselves in array against God. The sign that this transition has begun is when Jesus Ascended. And as the generations come and go the more this King manifests. These demonically inspired kingdoms know this, hence their resistance.
He that sits in the heavens shall laugh
This week has been intense as signs of decline have taken over the Western world. Here in this city from where I write riots and protests have taken place as government has grown weaker in enforcing justice and persecute the innocent. They want to enrage us, but look at God at the scenario described here in the Psalm. He laughs.
The motive is that however much they resist they become broken. The divine end times programme will advance until it’s ultimate goal.
The most powerful thing a believer can pray is;
Your Kingdom Come
Your Will be done!
This is the prayer of this hour. It teaches us that unless His Kingdom comes and is embraced His Will cannot be done in us and through us. This Psalm demonstrates a different Kingdom.
The Lord shall have them in derision
Derision is be totally confounded where every societal and political decision is failed before the manifestation of the King of kings. The weakness before the power of the Most High will be apparent. Hence the Lord does not act with rage but laughter. Their efforts to try and block Him will fail.
He shall speak to them in His Wrath
His wrath won’t be in His speaking, but in His Acting. He is speaking today. The decline of the West is not a by chance tendency. It is a manifestation of their rage and resistance.
He shall vex them
Torment will come upon all who join with this end time confederacy…torment because they arrayed themselves against the Lord.
Yet…..
In the middle of this millennial decline God has set in motion His plan. He has built a Throne, complete when Jesus did His Salvation mission. He has set His King in the model of Justice and Righteousness. This is what is lacking in today’s governance. Their is no justice where there is injustice there is unrest and instability. Where there is no Righteousness the peoples shall rebel. And Jesus will return to establish this kind of governance. Jesus is not self proclaimed. He inherits the Throne by His Nature.
He shall rule with a rod of iron
It shall guide with strength with those who submit, and break in pieces the disobedient.
David is seeing here a cadence between the weakening governments of the earth and the installation of the Kingdom of God. We must look into this Psalm as the Early Church did, who prayed this Psalm in Acts 4 and the Holy Spirit confirmed the reality by visiting in power and authority the apostles. The King gave through the Holy Spirit His Authority through the Church.
If the Church desires to see a godly nation because of their presence then maybe this Psalm is a pattern. Maybe we need to see shaking because of our praying.
May we see what God is doing and rejoice, because decline of humanity will be the ascendance of divinity, fragility give way to eternity and vanity give way to purity.
