The Road to the Right Hand 4; when the ignorant see and the educated are blind

His Triumphal Entry

His Entry into Jerusalem marks the beginning of a week long process to Calvary. Who ever thought that those who would chant “Hosanna” may have been the same ones who shouted “crucify Him” some days after. This is the thing about spiritually ignorant, they are swayed.

Yet this Entry could have been explosive yet for one detail. The two animals, a donkey and it’s foal. The detail Jesus wanted to convey here is that whilst the atmosphere was ripe for a revolution yet Jesus rides in where only those discerning knew who He is.

What they looked for was a King but what they got was a Saviour.

He is a King to those who discern Him, live by Him, and are led of Him. Yet the mission was not about being a King but a Saviour. The whole week is underlined by this culmination. The Son of Man would carry sin and nail it to a cross on Calvary’s Hill. That is the mission and it still is for those who have yet to receive Him as Saviour.

And for those who have received Him He is the Son of God, and for the future He manifests as Son of David. This final manifestation comes into fullness when the Father wraps up history and brings eternity.

The priests called Jesus to rebuke the multitude for chanting and singing for they preferred the status quo. They could not see Him. They are blinded. For all the Scripture knowledge they are yet still unlearned in the Ways of God.

The two animals, the donkey and it’s foal are prophetic concerning how God brings change. Malachi 4 talks of two generations reconciling before the Great Day of the Lord. Here Jesus is bringing in this fact through His Entry. He established a window for 2 generations to be saved before the terrible destruction of 70AD. Indeed from this time there was about 40 years. Just enough for 2 generations to hear the Gospel. They needed more than ever a Saviour.

What we look for is a Saviour but what we will get is the King

So much preached and teached today centres solely around the Gospel Jesus and almost zero concerning the return as King and Judge. Hence we are unprepared for the process that precedes His appearing. It shall not be Him sat on a donkey but the White Horse.

Jesus, Seed and Offspring of David

Indeed the End Time mission is for the complete fullness of the Kingdom. His “End Time Entry” will not be like His Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem,  it will be fearful and majestic.

May we be ready even as we celebrate these events this week. They are mirrored in End Time future realities. In the Gospel Narrative they prepare the journey to the Right Hand, in the End Time they prepare us for eternity.

May we be aware and awake and renew our vision of Jesus.

Maranatha!!!
