The high Sabbath, day after the Crucifixion, Jesus in the tomb, disciples hidden in the Upper Room, all silent. Yet in the spiritual dimension Jesus is in Hades, preaching to the ancients the Good News.
When we think all things are silent here on the earth there is activity in the spiritual realms. What was Jesus doing, opening the door to eternal life to the old Testament saints.
It is at the end of this that Jesus seizes the keys of death and Hades. Hades that waiting place for final judgment.
What can we learn?
There is only one time when true silence and inactivity will be, it is in the future. Here we have a silence on earth but intense activity in the spiritual. Jesus is breaking the power of death, and fear. He is taking back the power to determine dominion, power and eternity.
He has done this, He now reigns, and He who descended to the lowest depths now ascended to the highest heights.
This means if we go to the depths of rejection and humiliation we are treading the same path to when our season comes for honour and esteem.
