We start a new series to coincide with Christian festivals of this period. They are Easter, Ascension and Pentecost. They are great turning points that are spiritually applied to us as believers and I believe we do not appreciate them enough, or know fully the depth of them. I was asking God when I wrapped up the series “John’s Wilderness” what would come next and I saw a definite road to the Right Hand of the Father.
Whilst this road passes much suffering personally to Jesus, it opens for us endless blessings. These blessings come at the magnitude of the work that was done in those pivotal events. Some of this journey we will have touched on before in other series, but these will be placed within the context of this road. We must journey with the Lord to catch the depth of the spiritual realities they represent.
In many former series of this kind in this time of the year have been of particularly profound blessings. I anticipate that we will experience more insight. I hope you can take this journey with me, and feedback to what is revealed, how it affected you spiritually. This will enrich our finding this “spiritual road”.
It passes:
- Easter Process; the road to the Cross, for redemption of sins, application of His Blood. The Resurrection, regeneration of the human spirit.
- The Ascension Process; preparing the disciples in principles of the Kingdom. Preparing them to be the apostles of the Church. Preparing their Commission. Preparing their Eschatology, preparing their vision of the Messiah.
- The Pentecost Process; The path to power by obeying Christ’s instruction to wait in Jerusalem. They are fully immersed in Christ’s earthly mission and what happens in the celestial realms.
These processes are necessary for us also to revisit and in a sense reactivate in our lives. It is natural and easy that we need to revisit Biblical explanations so by faith we can experience a refreshing in those things. That is why a retreat is always good to bring us back into the reality of experiences we have already had and why we need refreshing again.
There is a marked transition in the ministry of Jesus we need to understand, why I will speak about in the first instalment, this transition starts at the Transfiguration. It is necessary because if we fully understand it, it will set us up to walk with Christ in His Word concerning these matters. It is here for a few moments that God, the Triune God, opens the curtain slightly. Here spiritual realities become manifest which need explanation and which will cause us to understand how Jesus was walking in those last few weeks.
The accomplishment of the above image is to resolve the sin question and bring us redemption, of sin, freedom. We must explore this process in full. It did not just happen, but each grouping was placed in its strategic location to bring about this objective. The Jews conspired, Rome consolidated, the disciples cried. We must appreciate the full value of what this Cross did in the panorama of eternity.
The Ascension is not just a transition for Jesus, in that His Ministry passed from earthly to heavenly, but the group of disciples were about to become the founders of the Church and apostles of the same. The implication is world wide and for all generations from then. When Jesus Ascended He took His place at the Right Hand. This was costly, but also effective. It is a phased work that we must understand, in comparison with some of the transitions we are now experiencing. When we understand it, we will walk fully in our calling also, with a clear vision of the End Times. We need that.
