The mistake that the American church can make

This message is obviously a follow on from a message I wrote in October 2020, when I surmised what would happen if there was a Biden presidency, what that would represent for the Church. I had a clear directive from the Lord that the reason for the Biden presidency was a opportunity for a reset in attitudes in the American church, where in modern times both politics and spirituality have been mixed.

The destiny in the direction of the nation is tied up in party and president, and I believe it is an error, not in who is president, but rather what the Church believes in in regard to the presidency and how it influences the fortunes of the nation.

The over dependence on the character of one man is dangerous, much the Bible speaks against the trust in man over the trust and dependence in God. I sense that once again, that the Church in America is making the same mistake.

Yes, Trump has won the election to the relief of many. What we need to understand that prayer and discerning the place of the Church in exercising its influence on the next 4 years. It must not relax in any way.

The same forces of decline are still there, trying to demolish the foundations of the West. Whilst Trump will, we hope, stem this tide, the only way forward is judicial praying that Jesus, the King will execute judgment and righteousness. We must pray and preach these two pillars of Jesus’ Throne, Psalm 89 must be the foundation to the Church influencing in every sphere of American life.

There is no doubt that the last 4 years have been destruction on many fronts, and for there to be rebuilding to the scale of Nehemiah, there must be prayer and vision exercised by the Church.

The mistake the American Church can make is believing that Donald Trump has all the answers to the ills of the American nation. He holds certain keys, but what has been entrusted to the Church are keys of eternity.

Therefore the next 4 years are an opportunity to get this error right. The Church must not see the political process as the answer, rather the ills of the nation are resolved with prayer and righteous preaching with the outworking of spiritual social action. This way the nation will be regenerated and a beacon of hope for the entire world.

If the Church were to know Jesus as King just as much as Jesus the Saviour then the nation would gain the fear of the Lord.

We pray for the American church.

Maranatha!
