Defining judgment; when the seed of the judgment is in the transgression

“But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭19‬:‭26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Lot’s wife looked back

When Lot’s wife looked back the Book of Jasher tells us she remembered the family members she had left behind.

She became a pillar of salt because she had transgressed the covenant of salt that was in vigour. Scriptures of Genesis 19 tell us specifically that as the family sat down to show hospitality to the 2 angels who visited them in Sodom Lot brought out salt to the table. The table is the place where covenant is celebrated.

So Lot’s wife who like Lot was commanded not to look at the cities under judgment but set the face toward their haven of Zoar yet looked transgressing . Her look was not one of amazement of God’s judgment and her own rescue from out of it, rather it was longing for those who chose to remain with those whom God had consigned to judgment.

This is reminiscent of today. When Jesus told of the parable of the wheat and tares He spelt out that a time would come when harvest had arrived . This time of harvest is when two types of fruit had come to fullness. The fruit of righteousness and the fruit of iniquity ripe and full. They are separated out. The parable exhorts a separation when the fruit is ready.

Many times Scripture mentions the cry “come out of her, of Babylon, come out”. When we know that iniquity, a system of iniquity is for judgment there must come a separation.

That is why Jesus said in Matthew that when you as the salt of the earth lose the saltiness it is “ischuo “ for nothing. Loses its power to be different and prevailing against the tide. Ischuo is the power to prevail. For the Church to recognise God’s judgments in the earth it must separate, come out, prevail against and not look back desiring the company of so corrupt a people. If we do mess with the judged we will turn into the expression of what we transgressed against . The judgment of body, soul and spirit become the evidence of the judgment.

Where she looked she became

The Church must not to seek to see earthly transformation through human persuasion or political programme, rather through holy separation set an example. So much compromise today that even Halloween with its evil connotations has now been transformed with celebrations of holy pumpkins. When the name “Church” is being removed from places of worship . Worship of worldly things becomes woeship.

If when the separation comes when the Bride must be revealed our eyes and our focus must be on the Bridegroom and our heavenly “Zoar” not looking back at what we had and what we lived. In looking with a longing back to where we were and who we were with we are counted as they. The judgment is separation and a new joining to, and if we transgress we will become a pillar of what we transgressed.

May we recognise His judgments!

Maranatha!
