I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
Revelation 22:16 KJV
We start a new series with great joy. The Lord has brought me through great processes in the Word, not for academic knowledge but a pursuit to know Him. Intimately.
The thing we notice is that Jesus personally sends His Angel to testify to the Church. Right now my prayer is that He sends His angel afresh. For this Angel accompanies the Apostle John through the panorama of Revelation for which much teaching has been to try to decipher the symbols and images. I posted a series about 2 or 3 years ago that Revelation should be considered as the 5th Gospel. Whilst the 4 Gospels reveal Jesus’ ministry on earth as Saviour, Revelation reveals Jesus’ in heaven and His Celestial Ministry as Lord and Judge of all the Earth.
If anything the Testimony of the Angel is based upon this central truth, we need to embrace the twofold manifestation of Jesus in our Theology. We generally focus on His Earthly ministry without really giving much thought what He is doing now!
For He ever lives to give intercession is what Hebrews 9 shows us.
The Angel’s, the creatures and all of heaven turn all of our attention to Jesus, the King. We need to renew our understanding that the Root of David is the foundation of the Kingdom of God. Jesus is that Root, in Himself.
Unless we embrace the fulness of the Revelation of Jesus Christ as kurios (Lord, King, Judge) and also as Christos ( anointed, Saviour, Servant) we cannot also come into those streams of Jesus in us or through us. We are being made in His Image.
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Romans 8:29 KJV
So to be conformed to His Image we need to embrace what we “see” in His Word, by the Spirit’s revealing. What prevents us is the traditions of men and personal moral deficiency.
Since January this year I have noted that God has opened a fresh river of understanding in His Word. This new understanding is preparing us to embrace the destiny mapped out for us in Christ. Revelation 19:10 says that the Testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. This means Jesus’ life eternally and His Earthly mission is a pattern for us.
What is coming against us, and in many quarters the Bible is being attacked. There is a persecution coming like never seen since the fall of the Roman Empire. Nations are rapidly embracing ideologies that the vacuum left by a powerless Church has allowed.
It is known that in some circles that believing and putting one’s faith in the Bible brings loss of employment, loss of reputation, smear campaigns by the media.
God is allowing this to bring the Church into a realisation that being conformed to the image of Christ is not just in character only but also working His works in the realm of signs and wonders.
The Holy Spirit is being quenched because we do not embrace the entirety of Jesus!
Revelation is Jesus’ letter to the Church through John. The reason for the letter was because the Church was about to endure many generations of persecution in which to profess Christ meant that you were staring at a cross or the lions, or even being burned alive any day. The impending price of the witness brought them a different dimension of the Christian walk. They had to draw upon special Graces to walk in authority and power because their faith was more precious than life itself!
Today I am certain that we have grown so comfortable with society giving respectability to the Church, through past revivals of faith. We have let this condition our faith that we do not stare death in the face. This is now ending.
Therefore what Jesus via His Angel is conveying a eternal perspective to events in our lives, and how Heaven moves in these moments. We see the activity of the Angels, the worship, the declarations that come forth, the seals, trumpets and bowls. We see a celestial context to our faith. What we take from what Jesus reveals to us, and in us, is that He is bringing us into a great destiny where we value more the unseen and eternal realm!
It all is pending upon Jesus, the Root, manifesting upon, to, in us. The reason why the Root is important is because of the dimension of the growth and fruit produced, hence the word Offspring that appears.
David the King is our earthly shadow of the King and His Kingdom. So when we look at David, and how he was the man after God’s own heart, the Sure Mercies covenant that he flowed in, the offices of King, Prophet and Priest is a shadow of the saints in Jesus the King.
Revelation 1.6 says we are Kings and Priests in that order. The reason being that to access the true priestly, that brings covenantal and redemptive effects in the earth from God we need to access the Kingly first! We have tried to access the priestly first and majored upon only the positive aspect of Jesus’ ministry, yet now Jesus is preparing an Ecclesia which will not be the tail but the head.
In Acts it says people feared the Church because of the power manifest. Such power did not tolerate sin. Ananias and Sapphira died because of their sin.
Therefore to access the Root of David: that is Christ the King, we need to adjust our vision, adjust our Theology. That way we can begin to peel away the tradition of men to behold Him as He, and beholding Him we move with heaven in great signs and wonders in the earth!
Shalom!
