Hidden Christmas; when doors are closed

The common narrative we remember is when Mary and Joseph arrived in Bethlehem we see that there is no room in any inn for Mary to give birth.

What we understand is that Jesus’ birth was hidden, only those with divine invitation saw Him and recognised Him.

Times have not changed. Doors continue to be closed. Even the scribes of the day knew where He was to be born and even signs were made known, that is a star and wise men who had come from afar recognised the signs in the heavens.

Does not the Christmas story mirror a new coming of the Messiah today? Scholars can have an extensive knowledge of His Coming yet miss the signs that are around us!

As Jesus found closed doors to His first birth so today many doors remain closed. Yet in contrast to His first birth His new coming will be forever to be seen!

This Christmas story is prophetic because it is a mirror for a new Coming. We celebrate every year, every year we experience and are mesmerised by the story! Yes the star, the Morning Star is shining today. How far will we travel to be with Him when He comes?

Herod when he heard trembled, as well as all in authority. Is it any different today ? No.

This Christmas let our “door” be open to Him.

As He wrote to the Church in Revelation, He said He was at the Door knocking. Is our house too full for Him? Is our heart full of other things than accommodate His Birthing in our generation!

Let us be a generation who cry with the Spirit, “Come Lord Jesus, Come Quickly”

For Christmas is about His Coming. May we recognise Him and Welcome Him!

Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
Psalms 24:7 KJV

Shalom!
