Genesis 17
In Genesis 17 God approached Abram on the basis of covenant.
There are seasons when God comes close.
God wants to come to you to do a work through you.
Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
Genesis 17:5-6 KJV
Indeed even this day He will change your name. Abram means “exalted father” but Abraham “father of many”. The name change is prophetic of what destiny God was bringing him into. Out of his being was to come fruitfulness. So much fruit that it would take whole countries to contain!!!
God comes in covenant to change your association and change your destiny.
When men of his age were winding down, he was being wound up!😀
God called him into a ministry of birthing Sons. Sons of covenant. Sons that would change the face of the earth. They would instill communities of faith.
How much more the promise of Abraham belongs to us through Christ. GALATIANS 3.
Sometimes we equate Ministry with preaching and seeing lives transformed but God is calling us to birth Sons. God is calling us to such fruitfulness that we shall see nations full of the richness of the Lord.
At times we are blinded by the humdrum of every day life that we are blinded to the Riches that God has for us. He says we are to be fruitful. And yet governments and nations try to restrict our ability to be fruitful by instilling in us that working for less is better.
We are to enter into covenant not accepting the poverty or the limitations of this life. We can be fruitful and full of life always. Not accepting society’s limitation by thinking that when you’re 50 or 60 it is time to wait for death.
God wants us to unlock the power of the covenant today.
He changes your name and calls you “fruitful”.
Many have taught on covenant and it is no mere formula. It must always come hand in hand with intimacy with God. God asks us to walk with Him perfectly. That is to walk
1. In love
2. In decisions
3. In attitudes
4. In priorities.
So today remember what God has promised you and unlock your faith; unlock your expectation and see God takes your own limits away from you.
Shalom.
