Abraham Part 5; when the invisible motivates you.

Hebrews 11 gives us the motivating factor of Abraham’s journey. It was the unseen that motivates. That is a description for faith. Hebrews 11 said “Abraham looked for a city whose maker and foundations are God”. The fact is he knew it existed. Revelation 20 and 21 shows us it existed. We spend our lives looking. I want to ask you does your looking motivate you? And what is it you are looking for? For Abraham, the substance of his pursuit was in the realm of the unseen. You could not touch it. You could describe it. You could envision … Continue reading Abraham Part 5; when the invisible motivates you.

Abraham Part 4: Killing Isaac

Isaac represented the fruit of the covenant to Abraham.  Represented the embodiment of all that which was naturally impossible. Not only was his conception a miracle and the pregnancy a miracle so the promises of a blessed bloodline was promised. Imagine every day as Isaac grew and Abraham reminded of all that God had said. Abraham even sent Hagar and his other son away. They despised this son of promise. Our children are the fruit of our love and hopes. No difference for Abraham. There echoes in this test of Genesis 22 a bit of Job 1. I am not … Continue reading Abraham Part 4: Killing Isaac

Abraham part 3: When you are called out you are called to…

Genesis 12 bursts with a turning point in the life of Abraham. He was called out of Ur and called into a heavenly vision. This passage holds particular personal significance. I was training as a pastor on a government sponsored training scheme still living at home with my family. My father was terminally ill with cancer. I had the habit of being in the church between 5 and 6pm. Praying.  It was in these times God would speak clearly. And very subtly God showed me my father’s death and a turning point in my life. The night he died a … Continue reading Abraham part 3: When you are called out you are called to…

Abraham part 2; the spoils of war

Today I sent a prophetic warning concerning  the war that is brewing in the Middle East and many societies are being made to be ignorant of the plans of hidden groupings who would have an interest in such a war. We see Abram at war against 5 kings and defeats them. We see the meeting of Abraham with Melchizedek in a covenantal exchange. In Genesis 14 we see Abraham/Abram moving in his covenant . The ultimate passage to full covenant is ministered by the King of Salem (Shalom I. E peace. ) who is a shadow of Jesus Himself as … Continue reading Abraham part 2; the spoils of war

Abraham Part 1: A call to be.

We are going to examine the Call of Abram/Abraham from contemporary eyes. We are also going to examine other sources that relay some information over his life. What we know is that Abram was born and raised in Ur about 2500 BC. The narrative in the Book of Jasher tells us that there were signs surrounding his birth. Even speaks of the influence of Noah in his life. Whether or not this is historical remains to be seen. It just gives us a glimpse into life at that time. Abram was called out. Called away to make a difference and … Continue reading Abraham Part 1: A call to be.
